Talameh Bi Jibin (Lebanese Cheese Bread)

 

Ingredients:

 

1 recipe Lebanese Bread Dough

1 lb cheddar cheese, grated (A combination cheeses may be used)

1 large onion, grated

1 egg, slightly beaten

1 tbsp baking powder (optional)

2 tbsp olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

¼ cup flour

paprika (optional)

 

 

 

Directions:

 

1.       Prepare Lebanese Bread Dough to step 6.

2.       While dough is resting, prepare cheese mixture by combining all remaining ingredients together to form a soft paste.  Set aside.

3.       Divide dough into 6 rounds. Roll or pat out each round to ¼” thickness on lightly floured surface.  Cover with plastic wrap for 10-15 minutes.

4.       Pat out dough with fingertips into 8” rounds, ¼” inch thick on lightly greased baking sheet.  Spread cheese mixture evenly over rounds, pressing firmly to ensure cheese mixture sticks to dough.  Prick with fork and sprinkle with paprika, if desired, to give a golden colour.

5.       Bake in preheated 375-degree oven for approximately 15 minutes or until light brown.
